LaTonya Austin Honorable Announces Run for Pulaski Circuit Judge

Circuit Judge Position Open Following Judge Wendell Griffen’s Retirement

LITTLE ROCK — On Monday, LaTonya Austin Honorable announced her campaign to serve as a Pulaski Circuit Judge from Judicial Sub-District 6.1. Since 2010, this judicial seat had been held by Judge Wendell Griffen, who announced his intention to retire in February 2021.

Honorable’s campaign will center around her 3-D Platform. Honorable plans to use judicial discretion to help decrease the negative perception of the court system, while reaching a fair and equitable disposition of the cases in her court.

“I am a born and raised Pulaski County resident, growing up in Southwest Little Rock and graduating from Central High School,” said Honorable. “With over 18 years of trial experience, I have worked across Arkansas, working and fighting for equity and equality for men, women, and families. I am asking you for your support in 2022.”

Honorable will kick off her campaign with supporters on Tuesday, June 1st in Centennial Park. For additional information and media inquiries, please contact the campaign.

About Pulaski County Judicial Sub-District 6.1

Judicial Sub-District 6.1 is known as a “Hunt Decree Sub-District.” The 29-year-old federal Hunt Decree court order controls five judicial circuits, creating 11 judgeships in 21 counties, five of them in the 6th Judicial Circuit. Named for lead plaintiff Eugene Hunt, the order represents a settlement of a 1989 federal Voting Rights Act lawsuit intended to expand black representation in Arkansas' judiciary. The agreement requires the five Hunt Decree judges in the Perry-Pulaski county circuit to be elected from 37 predominately black precincts out of the 136 Pulaski County precincts, which comprise the southern and eastern portions of Pulaski County.
